Getting started.
This walkthrough takes you from signing up to reading your first AI visibility report. No card is required to start, and the first report is free.
1. Sign up
Start at citehawk.com/signup. Signup and setup are one flow: you answer a short wizard about your brand first, and you are only asked to verify your email near the end, once the wizard has something to show for it.
New accounts open with a 14-day free trial of the wider feature set and the widest engine roster (8 AI platforms). The number of prompts you collect stays at your plan’s level throughout. Nothing is charged unless you choose a plan.
2. Run the setup wizard
The wizard walks through these steps in order.
- Domain. Enter your website. Everything after this is seeded from it, so you are never starting from an empty form.
- Scan. CiteHawk reads your site to work out what you sell and who you sell it to. This runs while you wait and takes seconds.
- Brand. Confirm the brand name and description the scan found, or correct them. This is what CiteHawk will look for in AI answers, so get the name right, including any variants you trade under.
- Who it is for. Confirm the buyers the scan inferred. This shapes the questions CiteHawk will ask on your behalf.
- Reach. Say where you sell. Markets matter because AI platforms answer the same question differently by country.
- Competitors. Confirm or edit the rival brands CiteHawk suggests. This set is what Rankings and Prompt Battles compare you against, and you can change it later.
- How you heard about us. One question, then you are done.
- Verify your email. CiteHawk sends a one-time code rather than asking you to invent a password.
Your answers are kept as you go, so closing the tab partway through does not lose them.
3. Your first report
Verifying your email creates the workspace and starts your first collection immediately. CiteHawk generates a starter set of buyer questions from what the scan learned, asks each question of every AI platform your plan collects, and stores each answer that comes back.
The collecting screen shows progress per platform as answers arrive. Collections take minutes rather than days. You can close the tab; the run continues, and you can come back to the workspace when it finishes.
If a surface looks empty in the first few minutes, the run is still populating rather than broken.
4. Read the results
Your workspace opens on the Overview. Read it in this order the first time:
- The two scores. Visibility asks whether AI recommends you to buyers. Brand Health asks whether AI describes you accurately. On day one they are a baseline, not a verdict; they become useful once you have a few weeks of runs to compare.
- Prompt Battles for the fastest read on where you stand. Every tracked prompt is scored won, contested, or lost, with the rival who took the ones you lost.
- Sources for the shortest path to a fix. It lists the domains AI platforms cite in your market and flags the ones that do not list you yet.
- Recommendations for a prioritized list of what to change, generated from your own collection data.
Every number opens to the answers behind it. If a score surprises you, click through to the collected AI answers and read what the platform actually said.
Where to go next
- How CiteHawk works explains the collection cadence and how each score is calculated.
- Features covers each surface in the product one page at a time.
- Connect your AI wires your visibility data into Claude, ChatGPT, or your own scripts.
- Billing and plans explains what each plan includes and how prompts are metered.
